Los Angeles based designer offers insight on her latest design inspirations.
Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
Nadia Elgrably: Currently, we are in the process of planning for a complete remodel and update, armed with AI Technology. Also, we are designing a penthouse on Lakeshore Dr. in Chicago and a beach front construction in Maui.
What major events do you attend to get inspiration and network with fellow designers?
Nadia Elgrably: I Love the annual HOMETECH Show, The Las Vegas World Market Furniture Show, and HighPoint in North Carolina. I also like to attend various Designer Fashion Shows, Hair Shows, and Luxury Market Shows. Inspiration is every where.
Traveling is another source of inspiration. I constantly push to open new doors in my imagination: Translating and integrating the influences into exciting colors, innovative shapes, and textures.
What colors, textures, and techniques do you think every design should have elements of?
Nadia Elgrably: For me its a fusion of elements with a careful balance of space, and an element of surprise. Composition needs to be an exciting and complimentary mash up, catering to needs of the client.
As a Past President of a 501C, I expanded my visual skills planning fund raisers. The task of raising funds for Women & Children in Crisis, is a challenge. Combining my expertise with our clubs need to raise funds was a wonderful challenge. We had to create a fun environment for our guests that was conducive to our needs.
When working with Design Students, My analogy is the presentation experienced in a 5-star restaurant. The list of menu ingredients is exciting, the type of plate and placement of each item is choreographed to perfection. The decor of the room and table scape sets a mood. Visually, you experience the taste long before you consume. A home should visually invite you to enter.
